FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The questions we get asked most.

For clients: what an on-board courier is, how a job runs, and what it costs. For couriers: what the work is really like and how to get on the roster. If your question isn't here, ask us; someone answers.

FOR CLIENTS · THE SERVICE
01

What exactly is an on-board courier?

A courier who personally accompanies your shipment as carry-on or checked baggage on a commercial flight. The item never enters the air-freight system; it stays with a person from pickup to hand-off. That is why it is used when a part has to arrive on a specific flight rather than sometime tomorrow.

02

How is this different from FedEx or DHL express?

Express carriers move packages through a sorting network on a fixed schedule. We move a person holding your item on the next available flight. When an aircraft is grounded and every hour has a dollar figure attached, the difference between next-day guaranteed and on the 6:40 tonight is the entire value of the service.

03

How fast can you actually move?

Most jobs are quoted within minutes of a call. A courier typically moves toward pickup while the flight is being booked, so wheels-up is usually three to six hours from the first call, depending on the departure schedule and where the item is.

04

Who uses this?

Aircraft parts suppliers, MRO and maintenance facilities, airlines, aerospace manufacturers, and freight forwarders. AOG work is the core of it, but the same service covers documents, prototypes, production gear, medical and laboratory items, and anything else where the deadline is the whole point.

05

Do you only fly to Latin America?

No. South Florida is our base and the US to Latin America corridor is where we are deepest, because MIA carries the densest Latin America flight network of any US airport. We fly wherever a commercial flight goes.

06

Why South Florida?

Being between MIA, FLL, and Palm Beach means we leave from whichever airport gets your shipment moving fastest, rather than being tied to one. South Florida also holds a heavy concentration of MROs and parts suppliers, so we are near the work.

FOR CLIENTS · HOW A JOB RUNS
07

How do I start a job?

Call or WhatsApp dispatch, or use the form on the contact page. Tell us what needs to move, where it is, where it is going, and the deadline. You get a written quote before anything is booked.

08

What do you need to know to quote?

Pickup and delivery addresses, the dimensions and weight, what the item is, whether it contains batteries or anything regulated, and when it has to be there. If you have the flight you want us on, tell us that too.

09

How long is a quote good for?

A same-day job holds for two hours, because last-minute airfare moves hour to hour and we are quoting against a live fare. Everything else holds for 48 hours. The expiry is printed on the quote.

10

Who actually carries my shipment?

A vetted courier, background-checked before their first assignment, carrying a valid passport and bound by a contractor agreement covering confidentiality and chain of custody. One person owns the job from pickup to hand-off.

11

What happens if the flight is cancelled?

The courier rebooks on the next viable routing and you hear about it immediately, not afterwards. Because one person owns the job start to finish, there is no wait while a dispatcher in another time zone reassigns it.

12

Can you handle customs?

Yes, for hand-carried shipments. Tell us the commercial value and provide the paperwork for the item, and the courier clears it on arrival. Customs holds are the one delay nobody can promise around, which is why we disclose them up front.

13

What can't you carry?

Anything that breaches TSA, airline, or destination-country rules. Lithium batteries, hazardous materials, and other regulated contents must be disclosed when you book so we can confirm whether hand-carry is permitted or whether it needs different handling.

FOR CLIENTS · MONEY, LIABILITY AND INSURANCE
14

What does a job cost?

It depends almost entirely on the airfare, which on a few hours' notice is the largest line by far, plus the courier's fee, ground transport at both ends, and any visa or expedite fees. You get one quoted figure before anything is booked; we do not add surprises afterwards.

15

How do I pay?

By card or bank transfer, through a link on the invoice. Bank transfer is discounted, since it costs us less to collect. Payment terms are agreed when you book.

16

What if I cancel?

Before dispatch, usually nothing. After a courier has been dispatched or a flight booked, we bill the costs already incurred, including non-refundable airfare. We will always tell you what that figure is before you decide.

17

Who is liable if something is lost or damaged?

Liability is limited under the Warsaw and Montreal Conventions, whichever applies to the route, which is standard across the on-board courier industry. These cap liability per kilogram unless a higher value is declared in advance. We are not liable for delays outside our control, such as cancellations, weather, or customs holds.

18

Is my shipment insured?

Not automatically, and we do not provide insurance ourselves. If you want cover above the convention limits, tell us before booking and we will refer you to a licensed cargo insurance partner who quotes and issues the policy directly to you, priced on declared value. That policy is between you and the insurer.

19

Who am I contracting with?

Miracle Mile Courier is a registered fictitious name of Quick Answer Consulting LLC, Miami, Florida. That is the entity on your invoice and in your terms.

FOR COURIERS · FLYING THE JOB
20

What is the work, honestly?

Short notice, tight timelines, and real responsibility for something a client is counting on. You collect an item, stay with it through check-in, security, the flight, and customs, and hand it to a named person at the other end. It is not sightseeing; most jobs turn around quickly.

21

Employee or contractor?

Independent contractor. You are engaged job by job, paid per assignment, and receive a 1099. There is no obligation to accept a job we offer, and no obligation on us to offer one.

22

How does the pay work?

A fee per assignment, plus your travel and accommodation covered. Rates are benchmarked against what the established networks pay. You are told the fee before you accept, not after you land.

23

What do I need to qualify?

A passport with at least 12 months of validity, the ability to travel on short notice including nights and weekends, a phone that works abroad, and a clean background check. Multiple citizenships are an advantage. Professional presentation matters, because you are meeting airline staff, MRO teams, and customs officials on our behalf.

24

Who pays for the background check?

We do. It is completed before your first assignment, not before we talk to you.

25

Do I need IATA Dangerous Goods certification?

Not to join the roster. It becomes necessary only for battery or hazmat-classified items, and holding it current makes you eligible for more jobs. Tell us on the application either way.

26

I'm not in South Florida. Should I still apply?

Yes. MIA, FLL, and Palm Beach are where we hire actively today, but we are building a roster for the origin cities we open next. If there is a fit now we will reach out; if not, we keep your details on file.

27

How do I apply, and how long does it take?

Fill in the form on the Become a Courier page, then email your CV to couriers@miraclemilecourier.com with your name in the subject line. We read every application and reply to all of them, usually within one business day.

28

Can I call with courier questions?

Please email couriers@miraclemilecourier.com instead. The dispatch line is kept clear for AOG emergencies, where a few minutes genuinely matters. We would much rather answer a quick question by email than have you talk yourself out of applying.
